Vojsko is known as the highest lying village in the region of Primorska. It is strewn all over the plateau of Vojsko, about 1,000 meters above sea level, situated between the valleys of the Idrijca, the Kanomljica and Trebuša.

After long winters the summer time in Vojsko offers genuinely natural, peaceful and fresh idyllic landscape covered with meadows and extremely rich flora in particular. Mountain meadows and mixed forests cover the area in symbiosis. Homesteads and holiday houses are sometimes several kilometres apart.

The main attention of the visitors to the plateau of Vojsko is drawn to the picturesque precipitous Gačnik, the observation point Hudournik, the memorials of the National Liberation War and especially the Slovenia Partisan Printing Shop Slovenija. Gačnik is an extremely interesting and somewhat mysterious ravine under the plateau of Vojsko with numerous waterfalls, water channels, rapids, gorges and pools, which have stirred up and attracted brave explorers for ages. It springs at the farm Krpcija and first runs along the plateau as a peaceful and idyllic brook, but then quickly rushes down the steep slope and descends for 800 meters in the length of only eight kilometers, where it flows into the green brook Trebuščica.

Hikers and mountaineers are well aware of the fact that Vojsko is also included in the Slovenian Mountain Trail.

In the wider Vojsko area there are several monuments and memorials to the cruel World War II era, when the plateau and its population served as a strong base to the national liberation movement. Unfortunately the local population suffered greatly for its support of the partisan movement, because most of the village was burnt down by the enemy. The last German offensive in the spring of 1945 claimed the most casualties, therefore the monumental burial ground was arranged at Vojščica, where 305 fighters are buried.
Here and there you can still find typical large farmhouses with interesting elements of traditional local architecture. The core of the village has formed in 'Planina' around the parish church of Sv. Jožef (St. Joseph), dating from the 17th century. The local cultural society and the Centre of curricular and extracurricular activities are the main driving forces of the cultural life in the village.
