Slovenia Green is the national sustainability certification programme of Slovenian Tourist Board. The scheme brings together destinations and tourism providers that follow internationally recognised sustainability standards and work towards environmentally friendly, responsible tourism development.

Idrija has been part of the Slovenia Green network for many years, actively implementing sustainable practices in destination management, environmental protection, and cooperation with local stakeholders.

Following a re-evaluation conducted in 2025, Idrija has once again been awarded the Slovenia Green Gold Label. This recognition confirms the destination’s continued commitment to sustainable development and environmentally responsible tourism.

In addition to the destination label, two local accommodation providers also hold the Slovenia Green certificate: Hotel Jožef and Sever Turizem. Their efforts further strengthen the destination’s commitment to responsible tourism.

The certification is based on the international Green Destinations Foundation standard and includes a comprehensive evaluation of environmental, social, and economic aspects of tourism. Retaining the Gold Label highlights Idrija’s long-term dedication to preserving its natural and cultural environment while offering high-quality experiences for visitors.
